Privacy policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
NearFiber ("we", "us") runs nearfiber.com, an internet comparison service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. Questions: hello@nearfiber.com.
What we collect
- The ZIP code you search.
- Your answers to our quick questions: your current provider, about what you pay, whether your price went up, what bothers you about your internet and whether you'd switch.
- Contact details, only when you ask us to text or call you or sign up for alerts: your name, mobile number or email, and ZIP code.
- Clicks on provider buttons: which provider you clicked, your ZIP code and the ad or link that brought you here. We record these clicks without your name or number.
- Information collected automatically: pages you visit, browser and device details, and campaign codes in the link that brought you here. If we use the Meta Pixel, Meta's cookies may also collect this.
How we use it
- To check which internet services are available in your area. We find the center of your ZIP code in GeoNames' free postal code data, then send that map location to BroadbandMap.com to see what providers report to the FCC there. We don't send them your name, number or email, and we don't store their results.
- To compare prices and show your estimated savings and the best deals for your area.
- To text, call or email you about your request or alerts, only with your consent.
- To match orders to providers' sales reports, to measure and improve our website and ads, and to meet legal requirements.
The chat assistant
The NearFiber Assistant answers with pre-written replies in your browser. We don't save what you type into it. If you ask us to call you, we save the name and number you enter, plus any answers you gave to our quick questions.
Who we share it with
- Internet providers and their authorized sales partners, when you ask us to help you order or to send you a deal.
- Companies that run our website, forms and ad measurement for us, such as Netlify and Meta.
- BroadbandMap.com (the map location of your ZIP code's center only), to check availability.
- Government authorities when the law requires it.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your mobile number or text message consent with third parties for their own marketing.
When you leave our site
Provider buttons take you to the provider's own website or an authorized sales partner. Their privacy policies apply there.
Text messages
If you agree to texts, we text you about your internet request. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Emails
If you sign up for alerts, we email you about new fiber and deals near your ZIP code. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Cookies and ads
We may use cookies and the Meta Pixel to measure our ads. You can limit this in your browser settings and in your Meta ad settings.
How long we keep it
We keep your information as long as we need it for your request, alerts and follow-up, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact with you unless the law requires longer.
Your choices
Email us to see, correct or delete your information. Reply STOP to any text, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
Children
NearFiber is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
