How NearFiber is paid
When you order internet service through a link or request on NearFiber, the provider or one of its authorized sales partners may pay us a commission. You pay the provider's normal price. Our commission is never added to your bill.
How we rank providers
Our "#1 for fiber" picks on the home page are our opinion, based mainly on the starting price for gig fiber, contract terms and new-customer offers. Providers that pay us a commission may be featured more prominently there.
How we pick the best price for your ZIP code
When you search a ZIP code, we compare the starting monthly prices that each provider there advertises on its own website, for the speed you choose: the cheapest plan, 300 Mbps and up, or 1 Gig and up. The lowest price wins, and ties go to fiber. 5G home internet counts only for the cheapest plan, because its speeds vary, and satellite plans are listed but not ranked. If you tell us your current provider, we leave it out of the top pick, because new-customer prices usually aren't open to current customers. Commissions don't change this pick.
Where availability comes from
When you search a ZIP code, we look up what internet providers report to the FCC around the center of that ZIP code, through BroadbandMap.com. ZIP code locations come from GeoNames (geonames.org), shared under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Every provider has to report where it offers service, but the national map is updated only about twice a year, and service can differ from one street to the next. So a provider we show might not reach your home, and new streets can be missing. The provider confirms availability when you order.
Where our prices come from
Prices on NearFiber come from the providers' own websites and are checked by hand. Prices, fees and availability change and depend on your address. The provider confirms your price when you order.
